I. What are the components required in the electrical system of industrial?

The electrical system of industrial include:

  • The heavy-duty power system is the most important part of the electrical system of industrial, including electrodynamic systems and electrical control systems. Power is taken from substations, through the total power cable system to electrical cabinets, and distributed to factory areas, machines, and equipment.
  • The light electrical system, including the internet network, alarm system, surveillance camera system, domestic electricity system, etc. Its primary function is to support management, inspection, monitoring, and control activities and provide facilities for workers to perform work.
  • Finally, the lighting system for the office area and the whole factory. Engineers need to rely on the basic principles of target lighting level, lighting efficiency, light quality, color temperature, etc., to design the most suitable lighting system for the factory.

1. The heavy electrical system of  industrial

The heavy electrical system of industrial usually use 3-phase electricity, with a voltage of 380V, and includes the following components:

  • The system of substations and medium and low voltage cabinets are the first elements required for industrial plants’ heavy power systems. The transformer station takes power from large power lines and converts it into a suitable power supply for industrial plants. In addition to the substation, the plant also needs medium and low-voltage electrical cabinets to divide electricity into separate circuits for each area and individual device.


  • The generator and switchgear are the following necessary components of the power plant’s heavy-duty system. The generator is a backup device for the plant when the power grid system fails, helping to ensure that the plant’s operation can still occur. The switch plays the role of providing stable production without interruption when the power supply is short.


  • The distribution cabinet system is the place to install and protect the factory’s switchgear and electrical control equipment. From the electrical cabinet system, electricity will be distributed to each area, machine, and equipment in the factory. In addition, the electrical cabinet system also isolates electricity users from live equipment, ensuring the safety of workers and employees working in the factory.


  • A machine control cabinet system controls machines and equipment in industrial plants. More specifically, the control cabinet will be responsible for supplying power to the motor and controlling the motor to start or end the working cycle. Besides, it will also monitor and protect the engines from breakdowns.


  • The socket system is a bridge to share power from the power source to the devices using electricity. Different from ordinary residential electrical sockets, industrial socket systems in factories are often equipped with additional waterproof covers, jackets, and fuses to ensure safety in unexpected situations.


  • The grounding system is the solution to the electrical leakage problem, ensuring the safety of employees and workers in the factory. This system usually consists of two parts: the electrode is buried underground, and the ground wire is connected from the parts that need to be grounded to the ground rod.
  • The lightning protection system protects the plant from the impact of a lightning strike. The lightning protection system will attract lightning to it and then safely transfer the current generated by the lightning strike to the ground, avoiding the lightning that travels along the industrial plant’s electrical system causing damage on a large scale.

2. The light electrical system of industrial


A light power system is not the main component in the power system of industrial plants and accounts for a relatively small proportion (only from 10% to 20%). However, it is responsible for operating a system of high-tech equipment, creating convenience for users. The light electrical system in the factory includes:

  • The LAN & Internet system is the foundation for connecting the computer systems in the factory together. Through the LAN system and the Internet, businesses can use other high-tech equipment such as telephone switchboards, camera systems, printers, fax machines, etc.
  • The switchboard and telephone systems are the supporting tools for the production and business activities of the factory. This system makes communication between departments and areas in the factory faster and easier.
  • The camera system is one of the measures to protect assets and ensure security. Especially for industrial parks and factories with large areas, the camera system will help monitor every corner, area, and image documents that can also be stored for a long time.
  • The public sound system is a component in the plant’s electrical system that will help managers make announcements and information to employees easier. Because the factory is a large area and a lot of noise comes from the machinery and production, the sound system is extremely important.
  • The access control system also ensures the factory’s safety and security. Through the access control system, the industrial plant owner can know the details of the time of entry and exit, the location of the entrance, and the identity of each employee and customer. Thereby security, order, and safety are also ensured.

3. The lighting system of industrial

The Industrial lighting system includes flexible and incident lighting systems.

  • A flexible lighting system that is appropriately designed and installed will make it easier for workers to observe, thereby improving work productivity. Besides technical standards, the factory lighting system also needs to ensure safety, save energy and be environmentally friendly.
  • The emergency lighting system is also known as the light exit system. This system is used for lighting purposes when an incident occurs in an industrial plant and is required to comply with the State’s fire protection standards.
